Idaratech HR Mobile App
May 2025 - Present
The problem
The existing HR app was slated for retirement. It had a poor user experience, ran on an aging React stack, and sat on a legacy codebase where some functions did not work at all. People were not using it, and it could not carry the product forward.

The challenge
Rebuild the experience on the existing codebase and APIs, without inventing new backend. The goal was a seamless app that pulled the best out of what already existed, so my job was leverage, not reinvention.
Process
A five person squad (PM, design, mobile and backend engineering, QA) on two week sprints for 3 months. I started from the information architecture, shaped by market research and benchmarking, cutting and adding features until the structure fit how people actually work.
Designing for employees
I focused on making the experience engaging, with an easy, interactive clock in and out, and requests made a central experience, both grounded in the market research findings.
Designing for managers
For managers, I centered the experience on approvals, making the request approval flow fast with quick actions.
Design system
We built the mobile design system as we designed the app, following the design language the team had set. I created the design patterns, and from them the components we needed.
